Install firmware using Awesome Miner

Awesome Miner can be used to install Antminer firmware and in many cases bypass the issues related to the signature lock on the Antminer.

Awesome Miner can bypass the Antminer signature check on most Antminers with the following exceptions:

  • Antminer S9, L3+, T9+ Bitmain firmware from June 2019 or later
  • Antminer L3+ Bitmain firmware from July 2019 or later
  • Antminer S17, T17 firmware from December 2019 or later
  • Antminer S17+, T17+

To install the firmware via Awesome Miner, go to the toolbar: Tools -> ASIC Tools -> Update firmware. The firmware can be selected from a list and Awesome Miner will automatically download and install the firmware on all selected miners.

When installing via Awesome Miner isn't possible, to only option is to install the firmware via an SD card image.

Install firmware using SD card image

Antminers have a Micro SD card slot that can be used to flash the firmware on the Antminer. Antminers can be sensitive about the Micro SD card being used, where cards with larger memory (16 GB or above) may not work in all cases. Bitmain typically recommends 8 GB Micro SD cards or smaller.

Antminer S9 / T9+

1) Please download the SD card zip-file from our web site:

https://www.awesomeminer.com/antminerfirmware

Please make sure to download an SD-card image and not a firmware installation file. All SD-card images are ZIP-files.

2) Format an SD card with FAT32 file system

3) Extract the content of the ZIP file to an SD card. The content of the ZIP file should be extracted to the root of the SD card drive.

4) Move the JP4 jumper on the control board to enable the firmware flashing. See:

5) Insert the Micro SD card into the card reader on the Antminer. Start the miner and wait a few minutes. When the two LED lights (green and red) are blinking at the same time, the process is completed.

6) Move back the JP4 jumper to the original position

7) Power off the miner and remove the SD card

8) Power on the miner again and it will now have the firmware installed. Please proceed with the firmware configuration.
