An External Miner is a representation of an ASIC miner in the Awesome Miner application. To manage and monitor ASIC miners they must first be added as External Miners.

This article describes how to add External Miners by:

Add External Miners by specifying one or many IP addresses

  1. Click New miner... in the main window of Awesome Miner
  2. The wizard welcome page is displayed. Click Next to continue.
  3. Select External Miner and click Next
  4. Configure the new miner:
    1. Option #1 - Add a single miner:
      1. Give the new miner a description (optional)
      2. Enter the IP address or hostname of the miner.
    2. Option #2 - Add multiple miners based on an IP address list
      1. Click Add multiple 
      2. Enter or paste a list of IP addresses
    3. Option #3 - Add multiple miners based on IP address ranges
      1. Enter IP addresses with dashes to specify ranges. Use comma to enter multiple expressions.
      2. Example: 192.168.0.100-200, 192.168.1-3.10-50
    4. If known, select the algorithm used on the miner (optional). For Bitcoin mining, select SHA-256
    5. Select the mining software running on the remote miner. Most ASIC's, including Antminer, uses Cgminer compatible mining software.
    6. Click Next to continue  
  5. Click Finish to confirm the new miner

Add External Miners by scanning the network for running ASIC miners

  1. Click New miner... in the main window of Awesome Miner
  2. The wizard welcome page is displayed. Click Next to continue.
  3. Select Network scan and click Next
  4. Select the IP range and click Start scan and wait until the scan is finished:
    1. Check the box on the left side for each miner you want to add
    2. Give the new miners a description (optional)
    3. Click Next to continue
  5. Click Finish to confirm the new miners
